U-Pick Apothecary
Herbal U-Pick
Come immerse yourself in the rich bounty of southern Appalachia. We will follow the stream to the herbal garden spending time on our way to stop and meet some of the wonderful medicinal plants that nature provides in abundance all around us. Time will be taken to carefully speak on how these plants can be used and how to prepare them. Based on some of your own feedback, we will select a few plants to respectfully harvest and process – ultimately you will leave with a hand full of herbs/preparations that are special and specific to you, made from scratch, and from plants that you harvested.

Primitive Skills
Create a Friction Fire – Hand Drill
Come learn the ancient art of friction fire using the hand drill method! Humans have evolved with fire for quite some time and we are now dependent on it for our modern civilization. Certain plants are also dependent on fire for their survival. Let’s take things back several thousand years and re-learn how to create fire from entirely natural materials. We will also discuss and practice ways to keep a fire going, bank a fire, travel with fire and much more. Some knife carving is required. Materials for your kit are hand gathered in north Georgia. The main price is for each person taking a home a fire kit and tinder bundle. Family members may register for the experience as an ‘additional guest’ but will not be supplied fire making materials
- 2.5 hours.
- Fire makers: $55 Additional guests: $10
- Up to 12 guests

What people are saying about events at Ever Wilder Farm:
“Caleb was expertly knowledgeable and you can tell his expertise comes from a passion for being a good steward of the land. We joined the Useful Plant Hike with our two small daughters in the Fall. Caleb was extremely personable and patient as our little ones were a bit ornery for part of the hike. He helped explain and made the land come alive for them. They especially loved seeing the chickens and learning how to make rope from hickory bark. We never felt rushed and were able to see so much of the magical wooded Ever Wilder Farm. Caleb had many “just one more thing”s to show us — it felt like a bonus hike! Extremely great value and knowledge, we can’t wait to return during another season to learn more. Thank you Caleb!“

BOOK THIS EXPERIENCE! Caleb is an awesome guide and you can tell that he has a real passion for learning and teaching. I can’t wait to go back in another season and bring more of my friends. I can’t recommend him more

“My 4 friends and I did the hike with Caleb. It was amazing — informative, fun, a treasure hunt. A great way to spend an afternoon in the woods. Can’t recommend it enough.”

Just wow. This experience was amazing! Caleb has a wealth of knowledge that is astounding. He’s a great teacher and well prepared to supplement the experience with tastes, feels, sights and sounds in areas that are of interest to you. If you want something to take your nature hikes to the next level, I assure you Caleb can offer new information that will heighten your next experience with nature. My partner and I booked this experience in the middle of winter and were astounded with all the things we could learn about every plant or tree we saw. We can not wait to come back!

We had great time! It was a wonderful way to spend Sunday afternoon with the family! Everyone enjoyed the walk! It was very interesting to learn how many secrets even winter forest holds. Everyone was entertained – small kids, big kids and adults. In addition, this experience will definitely enrich our future hikes – from now on we will be on a lookout for the beneficial pants Caleb introduced us to 🙂 Caleb is very nice, personable and knowledgeable – we left with a decision to come back in spring to learn, see and taste more 🙂 It was fun! Thank you Caleb!

“Caleb was an excellent tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about the land. The land itself was beautiful, with a small creek flowing through and very diverse local plants and wildlife. Caleb was great about giving the history of uses of certain plants. It was an overall great experience and we hope to be back to visit the land during the different seasons”
