11/11 – 12:30PM – 3:30PM – $55 per fire kit, $10 for additional guests

Humans have evolved with fire for quite some time and we are now dependent on it for our modern civilization. Certain plants are also dependent on fire for their survival. Let’s take things back several thousand years and re-learn how to create fire from entirely natural materials. We will also discuss and practice ways to keep a fire going, bank a fire, travel with fire and much more.

We will start out with a brief overview and history of fire making, and then we will walk around my mountain property to learn about and identify helpful plants for the fire making process. Afterwards we will craft our own hand drill kits from natural materials gathered locally. Finally, we will practice the art of hand drill and you will take home your very own fire kit! Never be stuck trying to start a fire again, learn the in’s and out’s of a proper pyre for starting a one match fire.

Some knife carving is required. Materials for your kit are hand gathered in north Georgia. Price is for each person taking a home a fire kit and tinder bundle. Family members may join the event as ‘additional guests’ but will not be supplied fire making materials.

We will be covering plant medicine foundations which is essential for anyone consuming foraged plants. Has anyone ever said to you “a certain plant is good for ________” (fill in the blank)? This is not enough information! Lets move past such generalists statements and learn how to use plants for health by speaking on extraction methods, bio-chemistry, dosage and more. We will be sharing the most common plants used in our household and exactly how to get the most out of your plant medicine!

All experience levels will benefit from this class. Part the day will be spent out looking at plants in their natural habitats and part spent under the barn tasting and discussing herbal extractions.

Nothing can truly compare to an ethically sourced, lightweight, stylish cattail hat. During the hottest days of summer, it will shade your head and let the breezes in, too. Join us at Ever Wilder Farm in Ellijay, GA for a day of weaving and connection.

We’ll be crafting hats and discussing the basics of how to forage for, harvest, process, and prepare cattails for weaving with. This workshop is open to folks of all weaving skill levels. Cattails are an especially great material to practice and learn different weaving techniques with, even for a seasoned weaver. This is not a strenuous craft, but will require focused attention.

Snacks and tea will be provided at the workshop. Participants will need to bring their own lunch and water and will be required to sign a liability waiver. This workshop has a 4 participant minimum and an 8 participant capacity. A limited number of discounted early bird tickets will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
